Westerners are often not careful enough. Don't assume you are superior and that your ways is the way in other parts of the world especially the Middle East. Most of you aren't in trouble there either because you do your homework or more likely you aren't even keen to go there. Dubai is especially risky because it tries to hypocritically live in the two worlds of modernity and ancient Islam.
When we were there, we made ourselves invisible. We don't even trust our own CG until we test him first. He failed the test. We also found our he was the classmate of our good friend elder brother in RI many years ago.
